Why a satellite print works as an engagement gift
A proposal happens in one place, at one moment, and usually with no photograph of the place itself — everyone is looking at each other. A satellite print fills that gap. It shows the headland, the park, the city block, the beach, as it existed from orbit on the day the question was asked. It is the wide shot nobody thought to take.
- The location is often the whole story — a trip taken specially, a place with history for the couple.
- It is a gift that works in either direction: given after the proposal, or given at the engagement party by someone else.
- Nobody else will give the same thing, because nobody else has those coordinates and that date.
- It reads as thoughtful rather than expensive, which matters when the ring has already set the bar.
Choosing the date and the spot
The proposal date is the natural choice. If you are not certain of the exact coordinates, pick the nearest recognisable feature — the park, the beach, the viewpoint — rather than guessing at a precise pin. At 10 m per pixel the print shows the setting rather than the spot, so getting within a few hundred metres is enough for the image to be right.
Sizes and pricing
Framed prints are made on archival matte art paper in a black frame, in 12×16", 18×24", 24×36" — $69 to $149. A full-resolution digital download is $6, on its own or added to a framed print.

What if the proposal was somewhere remote?
Remote is usually better. Coastlines, mountains, lakes and islands make stronger prints than dense city centres, because the natural features read clearly at 10 m resolution and the composition has more contrast.
Can I order this before the proposal as a surprise?
You can, but the imagery has to exist first — we can only pull a capture for a date that has already happened. If you want the print to show the day itself, order after the proposal. If you want something to give on the day, choose a date that already means something to you both.
How much detail is visible?
Sentinel-2 imagery resolves to 10 metres per pixel, so parks, beaches, harbours, major roads and the shape of a coastline are all clear. Individual buildings, people and cars are not visible — this is a portrait of a place, not a photograph of a moment.
What sizes work best as a gift?
The 18×24" is the most popular gift size — large enough to carry detail in a city scene, still easy to hang. For a landscape or coastline with a lot of open water, the smaller 12×16" reads perfectly well.
