Why a satellite print works as a wedding gift

Wedding gift lists solve the practical problem and create a different one: everything on them is interchangeable. A satellite print of the venue on the wedding date is not on anyone’s list, cannot be bought twice, and does not compete with the toaster. It is also one of the few wedding gifts that becomes more meaningful over time rather than less.

  • It is impossible to duplicate — no other guest can give the same coordinates and date.
  • It does not need to match a colour scheme or a registry, so it works even for couples who registered for everything.
  • For destination weddings, the print doubles as a record of the trip everyone took.
  • It suits group gifting: several guests can go in together on a larger framed size.

Venue, or where they live now?

The wedding date and the venue location is the standard choice and the one most couples expect. A quieter alternative, if you know them well, is the place they live now or the place they met — which sidesteps the possibility that three other guests had the same venue idea.

Sizes and pricing

Framed prints are made on archival matte art paper in a black frame, in 12×16", 18×24", 24×36" — $69 to $149. A full-resolution digital download is $6, on its own or added to a framed print.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the exact venue coordinates?

No. The venue name or the nearest town is enough — at 10 m per pixel the print shows the setting, so being within a few hundred metres produces the same image. For a rural or coastal venue the surrounding landscape is usually the more striking part of the composition anyway.

Can several of us buy one together?

Yes — the larger 24×36" framed size is a natural group gift, and it is a single order like any other. There is no separate group-gifting flow; one person orders and the rest settle up between themselves.

Is this suitable for a destination wedding?

Particularly so. Islands, coastlines and mountain venues make the most visually striking prints, because water and terrain give far more contrast at 10 m resolution than a dense urban block.

What if the wedding day was overcast?

Cloud on the day is common and does not rule out a print. We search the full calendar month for the clearest capture and tell you the date we used, so you get a clear image of the venue with an honest date printed on it.
